Beskrivning från andra upplagan:
”The jousters of this kind were seated on a very high saddle, before the pommel of which was raised a heurt, also very high. It is called heurt (from heurter), in German Vorbug, that part of the iron armour which the tourney horse carries before his chest. This saddle and this heurt, taken together, were named in German hohes Zeug, that is to say, high barde. The designs for this furniture are found in the manuscript Etliche Rennen, &c. We see from that, that G. Schubart was in error when he imagined that the German name for this kind of joust came from the long lances they employed. —De Ludis equestribus. Halse, 1725.”
