Kejsar Maximilians triumf. No 49 - Hans Burgkmair ca 1516-1519

Reproduktion av plåt 49. Från och med plåt 49 växlar man typ av lans. Från en lans med tre spetsar i en trekant, till stålspetsar. Här ses den italienska truppen. 

Citat från Triumph of Maximilian 1 - utgiven av The Holbein Society: 
” The Italian course, with mornettes.25  These are rounded, and have round vamplates,26  a rank of five men.

The difference between the joust and the course consisted in this, that in the latter the lances were pointed with iron, in the former they were tipped with three hooks placed in a triangle. This iron was named in Germany or little crown. The armour of the champions and the poitrel of the horses were much lighter in the courses than in the jousts, and it seems that the rush of the horses and the stroke of the lance were delivered with much more rapidity.

25 A species of lance, which the combatants protected with a case of iron, so as not to wound the adversary. These protectors are not noticed in the plates.

26 The Emperor made this remark on purpose to distinguish the different kinds of arm-guard. All, except two, have drayoires for arm-guards in the following courses.”

Ta chansen att köpa något riktigt unikt. I samlingarna hittade vi 20 olika motiv. Varje motiv finns endast i ett exemplar och kommer inte att dyka upp igen.
