Who was Robert Weisz?

Who was

Robert Weisz Hogen

Robert Johann Weisz was born in Vienna, 1916. He moved to Sweden in the 1930s and settled in Malmö, where he worked at the advertising agencies Gumaelius and The Swedish Telegram Agency. During his time in Malmö, Robert married Dagmar and together they had a son and two daughters. In 1959 the family moved to Borstahusen, and five years later Robert started Borstahusen's Tecknargård - where he worked until his retirement in 1977.

Robert's interest in graphics was great and he amassed a large collection of old copper engravings and woodcuts. An interest in historical images and maps led him to start printing reproductions on a small scale. The first that we are aware of is Visbia Gothorum, which he, together with Bokhandlare Ståhlbrand at the Lengertz antiquarian, had printed in 1956. Over the years, Robert was constantly looking for motifs that he could make available again. Always with great care and with a printing technique and paper quality beyond the ordinary.

He also did a great cultural deed for Borstahusen and the surrounding area. Among other things, he cataloged and drew about fifty old fishing tools that were used and used on the site. He also conducted interviews and published a number of books about Borstahusen and its history.
