Triumph of Emperor Maximilian. No 113 - Hans Burgkmair about 1516-1519
Triumph of Emperor Maximilian. No 113 - Hans Burgkmair about 1516-1519
Part of the procession's trumpet players. Rear part of the procession. 10 men on horseback, with a drummer in the lead. They all wear the crown of victory and with the heraldic insignia of the empire on the flag of the trumpets.
In total there are three images belonging to this part of the procession; pictures 113, 114 and 115.
The picture is numbered with the number 115 in pencil in the lower right corner of the picture. The numbering is incorrect and is therefore picture 113 in the order. We can only speculate as to why it has become so. But if we have to guess, it is a careless error or that the template Robert used contained errors.
We use https://www.parismuseescollections.paris.fr as a source for numbering and The Holbein Society's publication "Triumph of Maximilian I" for descriptions as far as possible.
In the picture you can see a slip in the print. This comes from the publisher and similar lapses can also be seen on other publishers. For examples, see the collections on the links above.
The picture is sold without a frame!
